Gathering Peace will be available Spring 2012
There is not a single one of us on the face of the earth who doesn't want a peaceful life.
In GATHERING PEACE, eleven-year-old Zoey tweaks our imagination as she takes us on an inspiring search for the meaning of peace.
Zoey's father quits his lucrative job, takes her mother, two brothers, and two dogs from their comfy home, packs them into a 36-foot trailer and sets off across the country in search of himself and a new career idea. His travel vision is one of babbling brooks and tranquil hillsides, perfect for contemplation and internal exploration.
Once on the road, parking rules dictate that oversized trailers be confined to campgrounds--usually spewing with tourists of varying shapes, sizes and voluminous distraction--a condition that causes Zoey's father to constantly holler, "All I want is peace and quiet," one occurrence accompanied by tears.
In order to provide some solace for her father, and tranquility to the disrupted adventure, Zoey feels compelled to find a way to give her dad the peace and quiet he wants. She understands 'quiet', but is confused by the meaning of 'peace'. She decides to go on a search for what it is so she can give it to her dad for his birthday.
A cast of diverse characters in the various campgrounds share with Zoey their understanding of peace, ranging from titillating to tantalizing, and even traumatic.
The gift she presents to her father becomes not only surprising, but truly touching.
