Where do our pets
go when they die?
Do they just disappear?
Do we just say goodbye?
We’d like to believe
they don’t go away
when we thought all along
forever they’d stay.
Because there’s no answer,
we just want to cry.
It makes us so sad when
our own doggies die.
But sadness, like joy,
is a feeling, that’s all.
Just one of many,
some big and some small.
Loss is a BIG one,
and sadness is too.
When we lose loved ones,
it’s okay to feel blue.
Crying is a good way
to feel some relief,
to empty the sky of
big clouds of grief.
It’s hard to know
when our pets die
where they will go,
or even why.
Thinking about places
where they might go
will help us to live with
what we don’t know
Maybe we’ll see them
as angels above,
or smiling through flowers,
sending us love.
If they are angels
and fly through the sky,
they’ll always watch over us
as times passes by.
If they are flowers
that pop from the ground,
they’ll tell us in color
they’re always around.
We decide in our hearts
whatever is real,
whatever is true,
whatever we feel.
So whether we want them
to wave from the sky,
or smile through the flowers,
we won’t say goodbye.
Our pets will live on
in the love that we feel,
and remembering their joy
will help our hearts heal.
