Peggy chose to capture the delicate symbolism of mountain wildflowers as an expression of the emergence awaiting within all of us. Her original photographs of the tender, beautiful wildflowers surrounding her mountain cabin complement her poetry.

In this inspiring collection, Peggy shares some of her most thought-provoking insights.

I've wandered through life
with an ache in my heart,
        longing for someone
        to care for the part
        that's causing the pain,

whisk me away
to a place where heartache
            has nowhere to stay.

A fairytale picture I learned as a child
   taught me unfairly,
         my vision beguiled
        by untruths of a world
        where I would be fine,
for a knight on a charge
        would make life sublime.

Finally the spirit has taught me to see
that the care my heart need

Exerpts:

I know there lives inside of me
a spirit of joy, incredibly free

I feel it often. I'm blessed that it's there
whenever my life seems filled with despair.

When winds of injustice toss me around,
I look to the spirit,
where calming is found.

It shows me a sunset, a rich golden glow,
soothing my senses, helping me know
that injustice, conflict, joy as well,
are part of living, stories to tell

of the life that is mine --
          my personal

Lessons in growth
to be learned with a smile.

"Put a smile on your face,"
my dad said to me.

"If you can't be happy,
don't you seewe don't want you around. Go to your room!

Seeing you sad fills us with gloom"

As I grew up, what did I believe?
     If I didn't act happy
     my friends would leave.

So I pretended a smile,
yet all the while
     resenting the wrinkles
          that started to pile.

Inhibited pain
lined my eyes and my cheeks.

Smile lines, they called them.
Isn't she sleek!

     She seems to slide
     so lightly through life--

     always smiling -
as if her world has no strife.

Awareness of love from the spirit within
has come to assure me I don't need to grin.

Now as I share the way that I feel,
     the scars of pretending
     are beginning to heal.

When there is something I need to know,
I take myself and quickly go
          right to my desk
              where paper awaits.

I lift my pen that by itself states
so many things I need to know.

Words appear in a constant flow.

There's a message for me
if I'm ready to hear it.

I know in my heart it's a gift of the spirit.
